I connect deeply with every one of my clients, and Madi & Sammy were no different. Our journey together started over a year before their wedding day. Getting to be there from the very beginning made capturing their Lizton Lodge wedding in Lizton, Indiana feel like such a beautiful, full-circle moment.
A Surprise Proposal at White River State Park
I still remember my first call with Sammy last summer when he was anxiously planning his proposal to the love of his life. It was my very first surprise proposal, and I was determined to make it flawless. I scouted White River State Park in Indianapolis near the NCAA Hall of Champions ahead of time and found the perfect spot under a sweeping willow tree.
To keep things a complete secret, I even brought my husband along as a “pretend client” so my camera wouldn’t give anything away. The moment Sammy got down on one knee, I stepped out to capture the raw, emotional surprise.
A Golden Hour Engagement Session at Coxhall Gardens
Meeting Madi was an absolute joy. I was still building my portfolio, and I wanted them to have a gallery that really wowed them, so I invited them back to chase that golden hour light I love. I live for a golden hour sunset shoot, and I really wanted them to have a diverse gallery of photos. Since I was living in Carmel at the time and they were nearby, we met at Coxhall Gardens for a stunning re-shoot.
To my surprise and absolute delight, at the end of that session, they asked me to be their official wedding photographer! Every single wedding booking feels like an incredible milestone, and I was thrilled to join their vendor team.

Working alongside the staff at Lizton Lodge was a wonderful experience. Their in-house coordinator, Gracie Martin, was incredibly accommodating and supportive throughout the entire day. She constantly checked in with me to ensure our timelines ran smoothly and made sure we safely checked off every single photo the bride dreamed of. Getting to sit down, share dinner, and chat about her journey and passion for her role at the venue was an absolute highlight!
The energy on the dance floor was just as spectacular thanks to Isaac Torres from DJNXT1. Witty, conversational, and genuinely kind, Isaac did a brilliant job reading the room and turning the reception into an unforgettable party.
Their Wedding Day at Lizton Lodge
Looking back, it feels like just a moment ago that I was hiding beneath a willow tree in the summer of 2025, camera in hand and heart racing, waiting for their proposal story to begin. Fast forward to September 5th, 2026, and I was walking into Lizton Lodge for Madi and Sammy’s wedding day with upgraded gear, a sharper eye, and a whole lot more confidence. I felt so proud of how far I’d come, and so lucky that Madi and Sammy were the couple I got to grow alongside.
I’ve grown into a photographer who feels entirely at home tackling tricky indoor lighting and moving effortlessly with the fast-paced, joyful rhythm of a wedding day. Every gallery is shot with care, creativity, and a whole lot of heart, right down to the smallest detail. Now, I’m even sitting here writing my very first feature for my Indiana photography blog!
A Full Circle Connection
Capturing a couple’s engagement and then standing by their side during the biggest day of their lives a year later is incredibly special. I told Madi and Sammy that I grow with every love story I tell, and theirs is proof. The photographer who showed up for their wedding was a different artist than the one who shot their proposal, and I think you can see it in the photos.
