By Christy, Wild & Woven Lens
As a local photographer and storyteller, I believe that the magic of a photoshoot comes not just from the people in front of the lens but from the energy of the space around them. Carmel, Indiana and its surrounding areas are full of natural beauty, cozy nooks, and quiet trails that feel like they were made for documenting meaningful moments.
Here are a few of my favorite go-to spots (and some hidden gems!) for dreamy, light-filled sessions:
1. Coxhall Gardens (Carmel)
This one’s a classic for a reason. With its elegant amphitheater, peaceful lake, and wide-open grassy fields, Coxhall Gardens has something for every type of shoot—from engagements to family photos to maternity. Sunset here is golden hour heaven.
2. Flowing Well Park (Carmel)
This cozy, woodsy park is one of my all-time favorites. There’s a bubbling spring, quiet trails, and bridges that peek through the trees just right. It’s perfect for capturing the in-between moments—barefoot toddlers, couples walking hand-in-hand, and the kind of gentle calm that feels like home.
3. Cool Creek Park (Westfield)
This is such a versatile spot, with wildflower patches in the warmer months and tree-lined trails year-round. It’s an especially great choice for families who want to let their little ones run and explore while we document the fun. The light filters through the trees in the most beautiful way here.
4. Central Park & The Monon Greenway (Carmel)
If you're looking for a mix of natural and urban energy, this spot is it. There are pockets of woods, wide walking trails, and even a few artsy architectural elements that can give your photos a modern twist.
5. MacGregor Park (Westfield)
Tucked away just a little north of Carmel, MacGregor is a quieter spot that’s full of open fields, winding boardwalks, and long golden grass in late summer. It has that wild and woven vibe I love—perfect for more intimate or creative shoots.
6. Potter’s Bridge Park (Noblesville)
The covered bridge and surrounding trails feel like stepping into a storybook. This one is especially pretty in the fall with all the changing leaves, and the water views add a peaceful, romantic touch.
7. Holliday Park (Indianapolis)
Just a short drive from Carmel, this one’s worth the little extra trip. The trails, gardens, and ruins are full of texture and character. It’s a beautiful blend of natural and architectural beauty that photographs beautifully in any season.
Each of these places has its own feel, and when we pair the right location with the story you’re hoping to tell—whether it’s a celebration, a new beginning, or just because—you get something that feels honest and deeply you.
Let’s chase the light together and find the spot that feels like your story.
